Karoline Lang

Karoline Lang, founded by Karine Tawil, channels contemporary femininity through couture precision. Trained at L'Institut Francais de la Mode and inspired by her Austrian great-grandmother's elegance, each design drapes directly on the body, creating second-skin silhouettes for evening events and formal occasions.

Karoline Lang

Karoline Lang is a Lebanese fashion label founded by Karine Tawil in 2011, having grown from a small couture collection she developed working at home. The brand takes its name from Tawil's Austrian grandmother — chosen in part because "Lang" in German and "Tawil" in Arabic both translate to "tall" in English, a quiet nod to identity within the label's name.

Tawil's design philosophy is driven by a woman's capacity for self-expression, drawing on inspirations as varied as the disciplined rationality of modernist architecture and the warm colors and exuberant detail of Renaissance painting. Rather than working from sketches, she prefers to design directly onto the body, resulting in complex cuts, drapes, and unexpected movement — a technique reflected in pieces like intricate patchwork-leather dresses cut on the bias.

The house has built a reputation for a refreshingly un-Middle Eastern, minimalist aesthetic — high collars, plunging backline dresses, tailored cropped tops, and smart tuxedo-inspired jackets — paired with an audacious color palette that mixes deep velvet with flamboyant red, or a blue-grey shirt with an emerald vest. Karoline Lang has expanded to include ready-to-wear, evening, bridal, and couture collections, reaching markets across the United States, Europe, and Japan, while investing heavily in local, in-house training to uphold Lebanese workmanship and elevate ready-to-wear standards in a market historically focused on couture. The label was named a top 5 finalist for the DDFC/Vogue Arabia Fashion Prize in 2016.

At the core of every design is the belief that a gown should feel like second skin — something created just for the woman wearing it.

The label spans ready-to-wear and evening collections, giving it range across both formal eveningwear and more directional, fashion-forward pieces. Its audacious color palette and structural silhouettes make it a strong fit for black-tie galas and formal events where a distinctive, less traditional gown is preferred.
